1950 PACKARD CLIPPER 4 DOOR

HELLO!  AND WELCOME TO MY PAGE.  WHO CARES ABOUT WHAT THIS PAGE IS ABOUT.  SOME PEOPLE PROBABLY WON'T EVEN FIND THIS PAGE WITHOUT LOOKING.

THIS IS THE HOT WHIP.  SHE IS A 1950 PACKARD CLIPPER, FOUR DOOR SEDAN.  STRAIGHT 8, BIG OLD DRUM BRAKES ALL AROUND, ENOUGH ROOM FOR A PARTY IN THE FRONT AND BACK SEAT AND THE COLOR OF RUST.  THE INTERIOR HAS TAKEN A BEATING OVER THE YEARS.  IT LOOKS LIKE AN ANIMAL GOT TRAPPED IN THE CAR, AND TRIED TO CLAW HIS WAY OUT OF THE CAR.

BUT HEY, FOR A CAR THAT IS 54 YEARS, AND IT IS STILL TOGETHER AND STILL ROLLING ON ALL 4 WHEELS, THAT IS PRETTY INTERESTING.  SOME PEOPLE STOP BY AND BULLSHIT FOR HOURS WHEN THEY SEE THAT OLD HOG ACTUALLY BEING WORKED ON.  I STILL THINK THAT I HAVE A PIECE OF CAR LOVERS HISTORY.  I HAVE LOOKED ALL OVER, HIGH AND LOW, AND NOT MANY PEOPLE KEEP THESE CARS AROUND.  EVEN PACKARD'S THAT ARE NOT RARE, LIKE THESE 4 DOORS, AND THE 50-58 CLIPPERS.  SOME ARE A DIME A DOZEN, BUT THEY ARE SIGHT FOR SORE EYES.  I PLAN ON DOING SOME WORK, AND MAKING THE CAR ROAD WORTHY AND DRIVE THIS BABY LIKE IT SHOULD BE.  SLOW, AND IN STYLE!!

ON TO THE INTERIOR......  SHE LOOKS LIKE SOMETHING HAS NESTED INSIDE OF THE SEATS, AND GROWING SOMETHING.  BUT WHAT CAN YOU DO.  THE CAR HAS BEEN SITTING OUTSIDE FOR THE PAST 14 YEARS UNDER THE TREES AND IN THE WOODS.

THE GUY I BOUGHT THIS CAR OFF OF WAS LAUGHING THE DAY WHEN I PICKED IT UP FROM HIM, BUT HEY, IT IS MINE, AND I CAN DO WHAT I PLEASE WITH MY RIDE.  SHE NEED'S A LOT OF WORK.  A LOT IS PROBABLY AN UNDERSTATEMENT, BUT WHAT CAN I SAY, IT IS OLD AND BEAT.  BUT WITH TIME AND MONEY, ANYTHING CAN HAPPEN.

THE INTERIOR, THAT IS NOT EATEN BY MARSUPIALS,  IS ORIGINAL.  I KNOW THAT IT DOESN'T LOOK THAT WAY, BUT IT IS.  I HAVE LOOKED AT A COUPLE OF PACKARD'S ON THE INTERNET, AND FOUND THAT THE SEAT FABRIC IS THE SAME AS ALL OF THE OTHER ORIGINAL PACKARD'S I HAVE SEEN PICTURES OF.  I AM STILL IN THE PROCESS OF LOOKING FOR ANOTHER "PARTS" CAR TO EITHER USE PARTS OFF OF IT, OR JUST USE MINE FOR A FRAME, AND FIND A GOOD BODY, OR A BODY THAT IS NOT THAT FAR LOST.  THE FRONT FENDERS ARE PERFECT.  STRAIGHT, AND NO DENTS.  SOLID METAL.  AS YOU WORK YOUR WAY TO THE BACK OF THE CAR, YOU WILL NOTICE THAT IT IS WORSE AS YOU PROGRESS.  BOTH OF THE ROCKER PANELS ARE GONE.  THERE IS A METAL OUTLINE OF WHERE THEY ONCE WERE, BUT I CANNOT FIND THE REST.  THE IMAGE TO THE RIGHT, WAS A "FIX" JOB THAT WAS NOT THOUGHT OUT.  I AM NOT A BODY PERSON, BUT I WOULD HAVE FIXED THE REAR QUARTER PANEL BETTER THAN THAT.  IT IS A SHEET OF ALUMINUM THAT IS POP-RIVETED THE METAL QUARTER PANEL OF THE CAR.  THEN IT WAS COVERED BY THE FAMOUS "BONDO" AND LEFT PRIMED. FIBERGLASS WAS ATTEMPTED TO SMOOTH THE QUARTER, BUT UNSUCCESSFUL JUST BY THE LOOKS OF IT.

THE TRUNK IS A DISASTER ALL BY IT SELF.  FRED FLINTSTONE HAS A CAR THAT HAD NO FLOOR, BUT I HAVE NO TRUNK.  THE REAR FENDER SKIRTS ARE IN THE TRUNK, ALONG WITH THE ORIGINAL JACK, BUT IF ANY MORE WEIGHT WAS PUT INTO THE TRUNK, I THINK THE GAS TANK WOULD END UP ON THE GROUND.  THE GAS DOOR IS MISSING, BUT THE GAS TANK AND GAS CAP ARE STILL THERE.  THE TANK STILL HAS SOME GAS INSIDE OF IT, BUT I DON'T EVEN WANT TO THINK WHAT IT WOULD LOOK LIKE FROM BEING UNTREATED FOR SO LONG. A GOOD WORD TO FIT THE DESCRIPTION WOULD BE "SLUDGE." I KNOW THAT IS NOT A GOOD DESCRIPTION, BUT INSTEAD OF SAYING "SHIT." WHAT SHOULD I SAY?

AS I CONTINUE THIS PAGE, AND ACTUALLY HAVE THE TIME TO DO THIS SHIT, IT WILL ALL FALL TOGETHER, BUT I HOPE THE CAR DOESN'T FALL APART.
